Mini Beasts - School Visits - Silverband Falconry Cumbria UK

Children always have a passion for the grottier side of life whether
they admit it or not. Our Wildlife Interpreters will engage them
instantly with animals such as.
- Giant
African Land Snails the same size as a Man's Fist.
- Scorpions
that change colour
- A
Bearded Dragon who eats his Lunch for the Kids.

How does it work
We realise that every school is different and may have different time
tables. It is the job of our Education Coordinator to plan closely
with the school Head Teacher or member of staff that is involved
in the visit to ensure that you get the very best out of your day.
We do have guidelines that we discuss with you that have proven
to work time and time again to the very greatest success.

Handling workshops
In our experience we have found that we are in a very hands on world
and that people no matter how tall or how small want to experience
fully and of course children especially have always looked with their
hands. All animals used in workshops are trained and happy to be handled.
The very greatest of care is taken to ensure the safety of the children
and animals at all times. This is a fantastic opportunity to really
see and examine the creature, within a very safe environment, always
on a 1 2 1 basis.

What subjects do we cover
We are happy to cover any subject or topic that you may be working
on but are often invited into school to give the children an experience
that they can benefit from. Subjects that we cover a great deal
are:
|
Staff Training
Our staff have many years practical field experience.
-
They
are also trained to a high standard in how to interact with children
treating them with respect
and fairness at all times
-
All
staff are trained to deal with all disabilities at any level
so no child need miss out
Interactive Talks
ENJOYMENT = EDUCATION

Games:
Have also been designed to aid the demonstration of important features
and points in some of the animals, this is also a great deal of
fun for the children who laugh and smile while they learn.

Who Gives a Hoot:
Raf
Appleby - Head Teacher - Blue Gate Montesorri School Carlisle "No
school should be without regular visits from Silverband. We teach
the children about animals but without the hands on experience of
a Silverband visit the children's education is incomplete. We love
Silverband's visits to Blue Gate and the respect the children learn
for animals and the world around them dovetails perfectly with the
Montessori Philosophy."
Paul Ashton
- Shiney Row School - Sunderland All of the visits from
Silverband Falconry are fascinating and Educationally correct.
All of the staff are experts in their field with a vast knowledge
of how to interact with children. They don't only cover the science
curriculum but many Topics and subjects on a cross curricular basis.
They work closely with the staff in school to guarantee a successful
day. What can I say other than - Brilliant - I would strongly recommend
a visit.
Brian Convey
- Milburn Primary School - Penrith I have worked with
Silverband Falconry for many years and have always been amazed
at what they bring in to School. Not only animals etc but in Excitement
Expertise and Education. They really do what it says on the box.
A visit well worth having.
