What does Silverband Rescue do

Many man hours are spent nursing and rehabilitating animals and birds and essential care is given. We are careful to insure that if an animal is to be released back into the wild that it will have every chance of survival. If it is felt that the animal would not survive then a further care plan will be devised until such time as it is felt that it could survive, for instance - if a bird has a broken wing it would not be released until there was absolutely no drag on that wing. Obviously it is quite difficult to see specifically if a bird has drag as the wings move so fast - so what we do is video the bird flying and then slow the film down and watch for the correct wing beat. If for any reason it is felt that an animal or bird just wouldn’t survive on its own, it would automatically be given a permanent home. This means that permanent accommodation has to be provided with a constant food source available.

What happens on Members Days

You may like to become involved in the scheduled flying displays or you could have a close look at the animals - perhaps have a hands on experience and maybe take part in the different activities that will be scheduled on the days. You might like to have a picnic or you may like to take refreshments with us. You will however have great fun and feel content in the knowledge that you have helped some of the unfortunate animals that have needed our TLC.

What is Silverband Rescue

Silverband Rescue is part of Silverband Falconry. Silverband Rescue was set up because of the amount of animals being brought to Silverband falconry each year, that need special care.
Here at Silverband falconry we rescue all sorts of creatures, not just Birds of Prey. Creatures range from Owls and Birds of prey through to garden birds that are sick, injured and anything in between. We also rescue all kinds of mammals and reptiles. People have realized over the years that we wont turn anything away and so we often get home to find something that has been left on the doorstep.

How can you help

Often life saving surgery or medication is needed - which can be costly. We do not receive any financial help at all and so because of the amount of rescue work we do, it has become necessary to ask for help. This is why the Silverband Rescue membership was devised. By introducing a membership - it helps to fund more comprehensive care. Staff are assigned to provide specialist nursing, time to clean and also help provide the correct level of husbandry necessary for the rescued animals. You can make a difference by paying a modest fee of £12 per year to become a member, by doing this you will help to make all this happen.

As a Thank you

We invite you to join us for members days completely free of charge. These are visits designed just for you as a member. There are 6 members days a year which are hosted at Silverband Falconry. You can visit on any or as many of the 6 days. You may bring guests with you but we ask that they pay a small fee (per person) and we do ask that you pre-book a place for them so that we can manage the numbers.
We also have special offers at different times of the year for our members. Experiences are often half price or buy one get second half price and even sometimes buy one get one free.

Current Dates for our Members days are as follows:

3rd April, 29th May, 12th June, 30th July, 20th August.

We are postponing the 3rd of April membership day because of a poor forecast and already water logged ground. The next one is the 29th May.
